With 23 years of investment experience and expertise in financial planning, Mike counsels executives and retirees that have sophisticated financial needs. A native of Charleston, South Carolina, Mike moved to Cincinnati when he was young. Growing up in a large family, the 2nd oldest of 8 kids, he learned early that hard work and careful allocation of resources were extremely important. He jokes that his interest in money and investments stemmed from only being allowed to have a half stick of chewing gum as a kid. Today he will often say he "worries about money for clients so they can worry about the more important things in their life."
He attended Denison University and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts with honors in Economics. He did this while playing four years of varsity football and being elected as captain by his peers. He began work for PaineWebber in 2000 as a financial advisor during the dot com implosion and learned many valuable lessons during that time that still hold true today.
Passionate about continuous growth, Mike fulfilled the experience and rigorous educational requirements to achieve the CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ (CFP®) designation. He then earned an MBA from Xavier University and their Williams College of Business.
Mike founded Kleinfelder Capital in 2017 on the old-fashioned principles of always putting the client first and simply doing what you say you will do. Today the firm manages over $230 million in client assets. He considers trust and integrity to be the two preeminent factors in his relationships with each family and takes pride in knowing that he has helped secure their futures and their legacy.
Mike lives in Montgomery, OH with his wife, Katie, and their six children. He is active in the community through many local organizations and sits on the Denison University Presidential Advisory Board. He coaches several youth sports teams and enjoys exercising, reading, traveling and doing anything outside. Among his most fulfilling hobbies are the numerous marathons he runs and the two full Ironmans he has completed.
